The Emory Folmar

This digital exhibit highlights the Emory Folmar Papers, which Anita Folmar donated to the Montgomery County Historical Society (MCHS) some time in the early to mid-2000s. In 2006 The MCHS transferred the Folmar Papers to the Montgomery County Archives (MCA). The MCA has processed the collection and made it available for public view. The collection documents Emory Folmar's twenty-two year tenure (1977-1999) as mayor of Montgomery, Alabama. The collection primarily includes documents relating to Emory Folmar's political career, including his unsuccessful campaign for governor in 1982, his work with the Montgomery police and fire departments, as well as his work within the Republican Party.
