The John Dowe

James S. Dowe was the third-youngest son of John M. Dowe and Joanna Dowe. He was born on August 8, 1864 in Montgomery, Alabama. He was also the first child born in the Dowe House. He married Janie Ray Thornton in Barbour County, Alabama in 1893. They would go on to have four children Daniel Joseph Dowe, who died at the age of 2, Lelia Dowe, Dorothy Dowe, and Joe Dowe. James Dowe died on October 21, 1953 at the age of 89.3 4
