The John Dowe

Joanna Donovan Dowe was the matriarch of the Dowe family. Born in Ireland in 1828, Joanna later immigrated to the United States where she met her husband John M. Dowe. In 1885 Joanna Dowe had the second Dowe House, just west of the original house, built. Local press regarded the house as an "ornament to the city...a revolution in architecture and workmanship."2
